Temporary Closure of Howard Hospitality Hotels

To our valued guests, employees, and Walton County community,

The rapidly evolving global COVID-19/Coronavirus situation has left many of us with questions and concerns. From the onset of this crisis we have made clear that our first priority was the wellbeing of our employees and guests. Over the past few weeks, we have implemented numerous additional disinfection procedures and adjusted our hotel amenities – all the while striving to continue to deliver the highest levels of service you have come to expect from our properties. We know that many of our guests come back year after year for vacation. Some business travelers are here every week. You are like family to our staff, and we hope that you stay safe and healthy in these challenging times.

To that end, and with your safety and health in mind, our leadership team has made the decision to temporarily close Howard Hospitality hotels (Courtyard Sandestin at Grand Boulevard, Residence Inn Sandestin at Grand Boulevard, and Hyatt Place Sandestin at Grand Boulevard) until April 30, 2020. We feel that this choice is the most responsible action we can take for our employees, our guests, and the South Walton community. While we will no longer accept non-essential travel at our hotels, we are committed to working with Ascension Health and our neighbors at Sacred Heart to provide lodging for essential medical staff through the duration of our temporary closure – it is the best way we can support Walton County through these unprecedented events.

You may have questions about what this means for our employees. Please know that we are dedicated to ensuring their livelihoods are protected and their families are taken care of. We have no plans to furlough or lay off our Howard Hospitality staff at this time. Our team is the heart and soul of our business; without them, we wouldn’t be able to serve our guests and community.

Now is the time for us to come together, metaphorically speaking of course. Kindness and hospitality are not only the foundation of our business model, but also our model for living. So be good to one another.

We look forward to reopening our hotels and welcoming you all back soon.

Warm Regards,

Tania Koehler
