This time of the year brings out more than just the holiday lights, presents, and eggnog, it brings out the generosity and giving spirit in us all. We here at Howard Hospitality donate our time, resources, funds, and more to many charities and organizations that better our community and those in it. Giving back, not just during the holiday season, but throughout the year, is a part of our company’s culture. Keep reading to learn about some of the charities we love and how we get involved.
Food For Thought Outreach
Food For Thought Outreach was founded in 2010 by Tiffanie Nelson. Their mission is to remove the negative impacts of hunger and to empower children to get the most out of their education and development by providing them weekly access to healthy, easy to prepare meals. Howard Hospitality partners with FFT in many ways. We are a sponsor of the Full Circle Kitchen, located at the FFT Santa Rosa Beach Pantry. The first Monday of every month, Courtyard by Marriott Sandestin at Grand Boulevard donates 10% of the proceeds from the Bistro to FFT Outreach efforts. Lastly, every month, team members from Courtyard Sandestin and Howard Hospitality volunteer their time to pack and prepare backpacks to be dropped off at various schools in the community. Alaqua Animal Rescue
Alaqua Animal Refuge believes that every abused, neglected, and homeless animal deserves a second chance. The non-profit animal sanctuary is committed to serving the Emerald Coast as the premier no-kill refuge shelter, full-service animal adoption center, and so much more. For Giving Tuesday, we donated bags of sheets, blankets, and towels from Residence Inn Sandestin, Courtyard Sandestin, and Hyatt Place Sandestin for the shelter animals to stay warm during the winter season. Cultural Art Alliance of Walton County
The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is a Local Arts Agency that supports the arts through leadership, advocacy, funding, programs, and education. The vision of the CAA is to be the catalyst for Walton County’s growth as a destination for cultural and artistic excellence through which lives are enriched, the economy is stimulated, and the community is strengthened. Hyatt Place Sandestin at Grand Boulevard partners with CAA in various ways. During the construction of the hotel, we worked closely with CAA and their local artists to curate one-of-a-kind pieces displayed in the lobby. On Giving Tuesday, we hosted “Happy Giving Hour,” a night of music, painting, and drinks designed to delight your senses and warm your heart. Hyatt Place Sandestin donated the space, and a portion of the bar proceeds to CAA. Click here to learn more about CAA.
Toys for Tots
Courtyard Sandestin, Residence Inn Sandestin, and Hyatt Place Sandestin are drop off locations for Marine Toys For Tots. This iconic holiday organization’s mission is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. Not only are we awarding our guests with reward points when they donate a toy valued over $10, but we are also raffling off a brand new 43-inch 4K TV to employees who give. How You Can Get Involved
Other non-profits we love include Emerald Coast Theatre Company, whose mission is to enrich and entertain the Emerald Coast community through professional and educational theatre. Also, Dog-Harmony, whose goal is to reduce the number of unwanted dogs at shelters through education, training, low-cost spay/neuter, and microchipping. We are proud to do our part and be involved with organizations that truly make a difference. If you would like to donate or volunteer to any of the charities mentioned, click here.
During this season of giving, we hope to inspire you to donate your time and resources to a charity or organization that is close to your heart. Gather your coworkers, friends, and family and make it a yearly tradition of giving back to others, while making memories to last forever.
