It’s time to get the corkscrews and wine glasses ready for the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival happening April 26-29 at Grand Boulevard in Miramar Beach.
Launched in 2013 by Chan Cox who founded the Sandestin Wine Festival over thirty years ago, the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival is the premier wine and food event in the Southeast. It features a plethora of celebrity winemakers, distillers, chefs, brew masters, and entertainers. Wine lovers and connoisseurs can undoubtedly sip and savor the best of the best during the four-day celebration.
Unlike many other wine festivals, the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival’s main goal is education – the stories behind the bottle. Not only will attendees be able to sample the plethora of wines and spirits, but they will also learn the history, ingredients, and processes used during multiple seminars. Thus, deepening the passion behind each curation well beyond the tastings and pairings.
The first seminar kicks off on Saturday, April 28th with Anthony Hamilton Russell and Olive Hamilton Russell of Hamilton Russell Vineyards and Southern Right and Ashbourne Wineries. The duo will share their South African wines as well as delectable cuisines.
Next, bourbon lovers will rejoice with a tasting seminar from Master Distiller Rob Samuels from Maker’s Mark. Not only will attendees get to sample a whiskey flight, but they will also learn about the distiller’s rich bourbon history.
Furthermore, the educational seminars continue on Sunday, April 29th with Mathieu Pouchan of Salon Delamotte. Mathieu will be pouring several different bubbly selections while sharing the stories behind these benchmark champagnes.
Finally, David Adelsheim of Adelsheim Vineyard will take attendees on a journey with his Oregon wines and their roots.
With over 800 wines featured throughout the festival, there is certainly something for every palate. However, if you’re looking for something a little stronger than a glass of vino, don’t miss the Craft Beer & Spirits Jam on Friday night. More than 100 different kinds of craft beers and spirits will be flowing and paired with savory small plates from award-winning restaurants, eateries, and food trucks on EATS Street.
Some of the spirits that will be available to indulge in include Maker’s Mark, American Barrels, WhistlePig Farm Distillery, and Hillrock Estate Distillery – just to name a few.
If brews are more your style, you won’t want to miss the samplings of an array of craft and local beers. Featured breweries include Abita, Sweetwater, New Belgian, Idyll Hounds, Grayton Beer, Destin Brewery, Nivol, and many more.
Maybe wine isn’t quite your cup of tea? Don’t fret! The South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival also offers the world’s finest foods from cheeses to sushi to some of the most savory confections. Simply take a stroll through the Savor South Walton Culinary Village for an array of food tastings. Many South Walton chefs and local favorites will be featured including Scott Plumley of The Craft Bar and The Wine Bar, Chef Wesley True of The Gulf Restaurants, and Yoshie Eddings of Harbor Docks.
